How we get the personal information and why we have it
Information From You
Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:
  • Caregivers: To facilitate emergency medical contact and essential follow-up care for newborns.
  • Nigerian Health Officials: To share progress reports and neonatal health outcomes supporting KMC scale and adoption nation-wide.
  • Donors/Subscribers: To receive newsletters, updates or process charitable donations
Information From Others
We currently do not receive personal information indirectly outside of our organization or regular business activities.
How We Use Your Personal Information
We use the information that you have given us in order to
  • Maintain contact information for caregivers vital to the organization's medical operations
  • Coordinate emergency medical responses for beneficiaries in Nigeria
  • Communicate with mailing list subscribers
We currently do not share information with other organizations or individuals outside of our organization and the Kano State Ministry of Health.
Lawful Basis
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:
  1. Vital Interest: We process health data to protect the life or health of newborns in emergency medical contexts
  1. Legitimate Interest: To maintain an emergency contact registry and perform follow-up care
  1. Consent: For non-essential communications like newsletters
  1. Legal Obligation: For financial reporting related to donations
How we store your personal information
Your information is securely stored in the FE Application Database.
  • Medical Follow-up Data: Kept for 2 years after the final contact to ensure patient safety.
  • Financial Records: Kept for 7 years per UK tax laws.
Disposal: We dispose of information by permanent digital deletion or secure shredding.
Your data protection rights
Under data protection law, you have rights including:
  1. Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
  1. Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
  1. Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
  1. Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
  1. Your right to object to processing - You have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
  1. Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organization, or to you, in certain circumstances.
